After graduating from the University
of Georgia with a Master's of Social Work degree, I began my counseling career working for the Department of Juvenile Justice providing supervision and comprehensive assessments for youth who had been committed to the state for behavioral issues. I then began work with adolescents and adults in both outpatient and
residential treatment settings.
I have extensive experience working
with clients in crisis through both a national suicide crisis hotline and providing consults to patients experiencing mental health
and substance abuse issues in the
hospital emergency room.
I believe that self-directed skills can help healing and wellness. I use evidenced-based person-centered treatments to help people heal, work through conflicts, enhance well-being, and find peace of mind.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, my goal is to help clients seeking
change, identify personal goals and learn ways to achieve the life that they desire. I utilize primarily evidenced-based treatments to focus on issues of depression, anxiety, mood and behavior disorders.
As a Master Addiction Counselor, I have specialized training and skills
designed specifically to help clients struggling with drug and alcohol addiction. I also specialize in working with families and loved ones of those who struggle with substance abuse, helping them support the client with
love and compassion.
Jax and Turbo are my co-therapists ...in training.
Jax is our Australian Shepherd whose speciality is active listening and
validation without judgement. He is always excited to come to work and gives clients unconditional love. His favorite activities are attention-seeking, and getting belly- and neck-rubs.
Turbo is our Russian Tortoise. He is always very chill and likes to soak up UVB rays on his couch while teaching clients the benefits of taking things in stride. He is master of relaxation and his favorite activities are basking and burrowing.
